Casemiro outlines measures needed to catch up with rivals Manchester city after thumping.

Former Real Madrid anchor midfielder in the wake of his team’s derby loss to rivals Manchester City has suggested some definite measures necessary to fully breach the gap between them and their bitter rivals.

Casemiro spoke after the game and said.

The Brazilian told ESPN Brasil: “The first big objective is to catch up with them (City) at this moment.

“Not in terms of history, as the history of United speaks for itself, but they are today the team to beat. Everyone wants to beat City.

“It is very clear the new owners (INEOS) want to evolve the club’s level, with City being our mirror. They have been doing a great job. I hope they (INEOS) help us grow together.”

Marcus Rashford struck early in the 8th minute from a Bruno Fernandes assist and then the tussle began with either team missing chances upon chances even when the Red Devils were playing at the Etihad Stadium they had an unusual amount of energy to withstand City’s advances.

Erling Haaland the goal poacher even missed a glorious chance seemingly like that of Everton’s former player Yakubu Ayengbeni but the deadlock was finally broken when Phil Foden’s curled shot entered the top left corner.

Now the derby has become tense and in the 80th minute Foden again added to his goal before Haaland cleared his name with a placed left curler.

But for Andre Onana’s standout performance Manchester United will have had some serious questions to answer, now with two defeats in a row Eric Ten Hag is under fire to produce results before he is given his marching orders.
